How it is built
Every fact carries its source and that source’s licence. Where information comes from a share-alike dataset it is tagged as such and stays separable, so our own editorial work never becomes encumbered by somebody else’s licence terms by accident.
We keep the original label text for every product, not just our parsed version of it. We keep superseded recipes rather than overwriting them. And we keep national recipes apart, because a British and an Irish pack of the same brand are frequently not the same food.
